Seventy-eight players failed to complete their first rounds on Thursday and will return to the course Friday morning at 7:30 a.m. (ET).
The start of the tournament was delayed 45 minutes as severe thunderstorms greeted the players Thursday morning. Play resumed with gusting winds and a tornado watch as the competitors struggled to break par.
'It was just brutal out there,' said Daley, who shared the first-round lead of last week's Buy.Com Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs. 'The wind was switching all day long and not coming from any one direction.'
Daley was 1-over after the front nine but a birdie tear carried him to the top of the leaderboard. He birdied five of six holes starting at the 10th and parred out the remaining holes for his 68.
'I hit it where I wanted to all day,' said Daley. 'It's great to see that all the work I put in during January, February and March is starting to pay off.'
Patrick Sheehan and Chad Wright share third place at three-under-par 69.
Jim Benepe and Stiles Mitchell carded two-under rounds of 70 while Cliff Kresge is at the same score through 12 holes, Greg Twiggs through 10 and Ben Ferguson after the front nine.
Defending champion Trevor Dodds opened his title defense with an even-par 72.
