Whistling Straits Awarded PGA Champ Ryder Cup


PGA of AmericaThe PGA of America announced on Monday that Whistling Straits Golf Club will be the host of three major events in years to come.
Whistling Straits, host of the 2004 PGA Championship, won in a playoff by Vijay Singh, has been awarded the 2010 and 2015 PGA Championships.
Furthermore, the course in Kohler, Wisconsin was selected as the venue for the 2020 Ryder Cup Matches.
'Golf experienced a new chapter of major championship excitement last year at Whistling Straits and the PGA of America is excited to be able to return to Wisconsin and its outstanding sports fans for both the PGA Championship and the Ryder Cup Matches,' said PGA of America President Roger Warren. 'The golf world spotlight will continue to shine in Wisconsin for years to come.'
The PGA of America announced last week that the 2010 PGA Championship was being moved from Sahalee Country Club in Redmond, Washington. The decision to move the tournament came about because the Winter Olympic Games will be taking place in Vancouver the same year.
This year the PGA Championship will be contested at Baltusrol Golf Club, in Springfield, New Jersey from August 11-14, 2005.
The 36th Ryder Cup Matches will take place September 22-24, 2006 at The K Club in Straffan, County Kildare, Ireland.
