The 15-year-old will join the 20-player field that will include Annika Sorenstam and Grace Park. Sorenstam qualified by virtue of winning her fourth Samsung World Championship last year. Park qualified by winning the 2004 Vare Trophy.
This is the second straight year Wie will be participating in the event, becoming the first amateur to play in consecutive Championships since Juli Inkster in 1981. In her debut, Wie finished 13th at five-under 283.
'I feel pretty comfortable in California,' said Wie. 'I came here almost every year since I was a kid since my cousins live here, so I've been visiting them every Christmas. I feel very comfortable here and the golf course is really nice.'
The 2005 Samsung World Championship will take place at the Canyons Course at Bighorn Golf Club in Palm Desert, California, from October 10-16.
