Eyes Focused on Oklahoma State Men

NCAAThe men's spring collegiate season is under way, and all eyes are focused on Karsten Creek in Stillwater, Okla., the site of this years national championships. But to get to Oklahoma State in May, now is the time for teams across the country to fine-tune their games. Here are some teams to keep an eye on:
Clemson picked up three team wins in the fall, and are led by one of the nations top players in senior D.J. Trahan. But Larry Penleys squad has depth. Junior Gregg Jones won medalist honors at the Jones Cup earlier this month, with this group as strong as any in the nation from top to bottom. Expect them to be right in the mix as Penley continues his search for his first national title.
Four top-four finishes, including a win at the Turtle Bay Intercollegiate, highlight the fall season for UNLV. The Running Rebels are gunning for a second national title in six years. Keep an eye out for U.S Public Links Champion Ryan Moore, who finished tied for eighth at nationals last year.
Both Wake Forest and Texas Christian won two team events each in the fall. Demon Deacon Bill Haas may well be the most explosive player in all of college golf, while TCUs Adam Rubinson has two runner-up showings in five fall starts.
A couple of darkhorse teams which may very well make some noise this spring are Augusta State and Minnesota. Oliver Wilson led the way for Augusta this fall, as the Jaguars garnered three teams wins, including the Fall Preview and the Hooters Match Play. The Golden Gophers showed last year that no matter how bad things may be, never, count a team out who has something to prove.
Dont forget, College Central presented by PING debuts on February 12, at 7 PM ET. Join Jennifer Mills and myself as we kick off The Golf Channels new commitment to covering the college game.
