East Regional - Gainesville, Fla.
My Picks: Duke, Pepperdine, Washington, Ohio St., Florida, Tulane, Furman, South Carolina.
I usually dont like to go with all the top seeds, but its tough to ignore the success this group has had this season. South Carolina is the highest seed I have advancing, due to the experience they have under their belt playing at the renovated University of Florida golf course. Miami (Fla.), Vanderbilt and Virginia are some others to keep an eye on, as they look to make some noise of their own.
West Regional - Las Cruces, NM
My Picks: UCLA, Georgia, Oklahoma St., Tennessee, Southern Cal, Arizona, Cal-Berkeley, Washington St.
A top heavy regional site, the West will see the top 8 seeds move on. The first 5 or 6 were easy picks, but I debated over the last spot, which ultimately went to Washington St.
Senior Kim Welch will lead her team to Oregon, but will do so by the slimmest of margins. If the Cougars slip up, Stanford and UNV are two others who will be ready to take advantage.
Central Regional - Lubbock, Tex.
My Picks: Auburn, Arizona St., LSU, Wake Forest, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, SMU
In the Central Regional, the selection process is extremely difficult. There are 12-14 legitimate teams who are worthy of advancing. But with just 8 spots available, many will leave Lubbock scratching their heads. Some of the top seeded teams will not move on, as I think New Mexico and Texas might struggle. As easily as I say that, it would not be a surprise to see them move on. Tulsa, Purdue, TCU are just a few of the remaining schools who will battle for the precious spots and the ticket to Oregon.
One thing is for certain, these picks will not guarantee any team of a trip to Nationals. But I will take my medicine, stick by my choices, and let the chips fall where they may.
