MACHRIHANISH, Scotland – Final match at Machrihanish Dunes went much like the first edition – hopeless deficits followed by high drama. Without going into details (no one's to hear all of that), we've played 36 holes on this slice of links heaven and have accomplished nothing. Two matches, two draws. Nothing like coming all the way to Scotland to kiss one's sister.
As for the second loop at Mach Dunes the insight provided by our first trip around was invaluable and made the second round much more enjoyable and creative. As the David McLay Kidd gem matures it will be a wonderful companion to ancient links across the Sound at Machrihanish.
It's off to the Loch Tarbert ferry and our 'sail' across to the Isle of Arran. Seventy-two holes into our journey, it is the first water hazard we've faced.
