Vernon to serve second term as USGA president


USGAFAR HILLS, N.J. ' James F. Vernon has been elected to serve a second one-year term as president of the U.S. Golf Association. The election took place Saturday at the USGAs Annual Meeting in Newport Beach, Calif.
As president, Vernon, 58, will continue to lead the Associations professional staff and nearly 1,400 volunteers who serve on more than 30 committees.
Vernon is the owner of Frank Vernon Diamond Brokers and Wholesale Jewelers, a family business that started under his fathers name more than 50 years ago.
Other elected officers were: James B. Hyler Jr. and Cameron Jay Rains as vice presidents; James T. Bunch as secretary; and Irving Fish as treasurer.
