First-round play underway at Glenmorangie Cup

Play is underway in the first round of the Glenmorangie Cup, as the best virtual golfers tackle some of the most famous holes in golf.

This marks the fourth tournament of the 2014 season on the WGT Virtual Tour, as players take on a composite course featuring some of the most beautiful and challenging holes at courses like Bethpage Black, Kiawah Island, Royal St. George's and St. Andrews.

The tournament utilizes stroke-play format, and players are allotted an unlimited number of attempts to post their lowest Round 1 score by April 25. The current leader of the Tour Legend division is Canadian GEHL13, who carded an opening 52 to take a one-shot lead over BolloxInBruges, a runner-up at the TransAmerica Classic, and dansamcam, who won the IOA Open in January. The Legend tier is led by hatchy66 with a score of 54, while WeidaDeNei sits one shot back at 55 through one round.

After the conclusion of Round 1, players will have just one chance to post a second-round score by April 30. The top 70 combined scores from the Pro tier and above will split a prize purse of 200,000 WGT credits that will count toward the overall season-long standings.

Highlights from Round 1 include Tour Pro tom2h holing out from the 18th fairway at Congressional Country Club, site of the 2011 U.S. Open. Click here to get started with the WGT Virtual Tour and take your shot against a collection of iconic holes in the Glenmorangie Cup!
