WGC-HSBC Champions Day 2: D.J. leads by five shots
Frank Nobilo and Curt Byrum recap second round play of the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai.the club again. So, I'd like to think some of those were mental mistakes , but that's not just the problem to him the more. The problem really is on how well Dustin Johnson played today. -Dustin Johnson was incredible in round two. With his length off the tee, Frank, he was able to take a lot of the bunkers out of play. He was driving the ball straight, a lot of short-iron shots into the par-4 as he got all the par-5s and 2 and he putted well. So, a brilliant round for Dustin Johnson, shoots 63 that ties the course record and Frank, I think, what we're seeing is this golf course sets up well for the players that are considered good ball strikers. -And long hitters. When you look at three of the top four in the leaderboard, obviously Dustin, you've eluded to that 63, but Bubba Watson , not just his length but his second shot, this is also a second shot golf course , and Bubba Watson really hit it closer than anyone, certainly over the second nine holes. You wait and Rory Mcllroy. He was also one of the longest in the game. Really, the odd one-- the odd man out is Boo Weekley. We know how good he can play, but with this par-5s, at least the rhythm being very reachable, the short drivable 16th, you got to say advantage to the long hitters, especially if we get the same conditions tomorrow. -A lot of great players near the top of the leaderboard. We'll have round three right here on the Golf Channel .
