Dave Pelz: Pitching to Undulating Greens
Dave Pelz shares shot selection and execution tips for pitching the ball closer to the hole on undulating greens.here on the 16th green, and I've got my ball back where Andres Romero drove it. It's a short par-4 and he hit it about 10 yards short of the green, but the point I wanna show is this is a very undulating green as most of the greens out here are. They're beautiful surface as you can make a lot of putts, but they're difficult. You've got to read the green. For this chip shot, Andres had to get this up and down . Dave Pelz: Putting Under Pressure
Dave Pelz shares how to hit putts that roll to the hole with the perfect putting speed.but Romero left his right here 5 feet short of a hole. Peter Lonard rolls it 712 feet by. Both of them very makeable putts. One is slightly downhill, but the tournament turned on these 2by the hole if it did miss. That's the perfect putting speed. Peter Lonard was quoted later after the tournament. He said, "I fell in love with the line I forgot to hit it." I want you to remember. When you have a pressure putt, the perfect putting speed is a putt that rolls half your putter length pass the hole when it misses. Now I'm not telling you to miss it. I'm saying imagine if you cover the hole and you roll the ball over, it would roll that far by the hole. The natural tendency when you're under pressure is to tighten your muscle. You're gonna be a little tense. And tense muscles don't move that fast.
