'Field of dreams: Wyndham at Sedgefield CC
Matt Ginella discusses the Sedgefield Country Club site of the Wyndham Championship. Watch Morning Drive on Golf Channel.as well. Yeah. So just tell us a little bit about this golf course . Originally built in 1926. Donald Ross originally laid out, designed 36 holes. The club originally built 27 of those. 36 holes and then during the depression I actually had to sell of 9 holes to uhh kind of make ends meet. So you're left with 18 dollar rost holes. There's actually a peak dive golf course now as a part of sedgefield country club as well. In 2007 they went through a 3 million dollar restoration and it was done. By Chris Spence, a local Donald Ross expert. So, this wa, this was truly a restoration. Really trying to keep it in its sense of the word. Yeah, and it's only, it's the only Donald Ross course used as a regular PGA tour stop. I know they played the major at Pinehurst Donald Ross original number two this year. But the only reoccurring Donald Ross course. On the PGA Tour stop. Has it always been two courses? They well, the Sedge Show Country Club has McConnell Golf bought up the two courses separately. The dye was originally the Cardinal Course and then they have combined them now to be a two course facility. What about amenities. A lot of amenities there at Sedgefield Country Club which is private. 600 golf members. They have over 10 tennis courts, 6 dining options, 2 pools, a lot of kids' activities, they've got lodging there. So it's a healthy and thriving country club .
Golfing World: An inside look at Wegmans LPGA
Golfing World takes an inside look at the Wegmans LPGA Championship at Monroe Golf Club in Pittsford, NY.course. It's going to play close to 6700 yards which is women's US open length. We've got 6 par 4's that are over 400 yards. A couple of them are up hill. And some of the tee shots are, you'll hit right into a hill. So it's going to be a challenge from a distance perspective. The par fives, most of them are reachable. The hardest part's probably the par threes, the par threes are all pretty close to about 200 yards, so they're gonna play pretty long, and the rough is obviously really thick. We go to a new course for the US Open every year, for the British we dance around there. So it is tough cuz you gotta get out and play and take notes and learn. You know, as opposed to a course you play over, and over, and over again. And like say for instance Evian or something like that. So, it is more work. But at the same time we'll all learn at the same pace. So, it's fun. Before coming to Monroe, nearby Locust Hill Country Club staged the LPGA Championship for four years. And had previously held a regular tour event from 1977. So it's fair to say the Rochester region has played an important part in the history of Lady's Golf, and

Mo knows: Martin focuses on accuracy, short game
Mo Martin explains her approach to the game with the media Tuesday at the 2014 Wegmans LPGA Championship.I mean he was a very small man and he had an extremely successful career. At a time, you know, where, there were, the long hitters were dominating. And he had some epic matches where he just, used his strengths to his advantage and played the golf course . And I think that's another beautiful part of the game is there's no one way to play it. And I mean for players like Lexi and Michelle and there are a couple of other long players out there. There are some holes that they can overpower. And they can definitely take lines that I can't. But I just approach the golf course a little bit differently, and I capitalize on my accuracy, and my short game. So, I think it's just an awesome game
