Golfing World: Gordon Brand Jr. talks Ryder Cup
Golfing World chats with Gordon Brand Jr., a member of the historic 1987 European Ryder Cup side, about his experiences in that amazing event and Europe's chances in this year's edition at Gleneagles.talisman for Europe. I think Seve was, was someone who saw the Ryder Cup , even though we hadn't won it, we got very close a couple times. And he saw that the team was. was understanding that I think we were capable of winning the, the tournament. And so he was a great influence in, he was a great believer in the European team. And, and anyone who's seen played. He played with a great deal of passion. And I think that integrated into the team very well. The 2014 Ryder Cup will be held at Gleneagles, Scotland and will come with a host of unique challenges. That said, Brand believes the course isn't the only important consideration. I don't think the course matters so much. You know, it's a match player event it's not a stroke player event. So, the the course has got some influence on it. But I think it's going to be great to have a Ryder Cup in Scotland at Glen Eagles which is iconic for now holidays and Kings Course and the Queens Course and we're playing the other course. So it should be a great event. And, and, and, and, and looking at the American team that come over, they seem to be blighted by Tiger. Some injuries and Johnson has had to take a break, so in a, in a sort of way that could be good for us. In contrast, Brand believes that the actual makeup of Paul McGinley's team will have little bearing on the outcome of the contest. You look at the podium when you know we were dead
