Morning Drive: Na's new pre-shot routine
Gary Williams, Jason Sobel and Brandel Chamblee discuss Kevin Na’s new pre-shot routine which he is debuting at this week's Crowne Plaza Invitational. Watch 'Morning Drive' every weekday from 7 to 9AM ET only on Golf Channel.-From the Morning Drive studios for golfchannel.com, Gary Williams, Jason Sobel , great to have Brandel Chamblee with us today. And Kevin Na is gonna play his first round. The Crowne Plaza Invitation at Colonial. After what happened at the Players and he is kinda trying to implement a new pre-shot routine. It's admirable but is it the right thing to be doing here? -First of all I love this, you know, we had senior PGA, we got the British PGA going on pretty much, the BMW PGA, Crowne Plaza. And we're all caught up in this pre-shot routine of Kevin Na , you know, I think it's ill advice, you know, I think that's something that you take on in the off-season 'cause there's nothing harder in my opinion than trying to implement a pre-shot routine in during the course of a golf tournament. I've tried it, you know, just trying to change your waggle, trying to change how many looks you have. And then you end up thinking about that instead of the task at hand. And I think one of the saddest things I've seen this year was him trying to change his routine in the final round of the players. I mean that's the biggest tournament on tour outside of a Major championship . He could have won it, and he might have won it had he not been so worried about his pre-shot routine. -I think it's a situation right now for Kevin Na where you're damned if you and your damned if you don't. There's so much pressure from the masses, from his fellow players to play quicker and to get over the ball, and hit the ball in a timely manner that he's going to make some changes and yet he's playing good golf right now. Eleven of 14 cuts so far this year, 5 Top 10 finishes, so to go through his pre-shot routine, make changes to that, you don't how that can affect the bottom line. And whereas everybody in the world wants Kevin Na to change right now, it may not be the right thing for Kevin. -I think I'd be damned if I don't, out
