No. 8 News maker of 2013: Henrik Stenson
Golfchannel.com writers Rex Hoggard, Randall Mell and Ryan Lavner sit down to discuss Henrik Stenson and why he’s the 8th biggest newsmaker of 2013.and Ryan Lavner. We're doing our year-end newsmakers and we've arrived at Henrik Stenson , a phenomenal year and when you consider the PGA Tour didn't give out a comeback player of the year in 2013 but if they did, I think Henrik Stenson would have been do maybe for the comeback player of the decade considering everything he did. He began the season 56th infirst Euro title and then two months later, he walks out the golf course 'cause he cannot keep the ball on the golf course . You know, slumps, loses his game, rises back to number four and then slumps and loses his game, drops to number 230 and then wins the FedExCup and the Race to Dubai, it's remarkable. -I think if you're looking in the last decade, you could see a player like Steve Stricker who couldn't even get the ball off the tee. Obviously, you've seen the longevity that he has had, looking now at Jarrod Lyle, twice a leukemia survivor, trying to work his way back on the tour but Henrik Stenson is an unbelievable story to deepen of the 230s just a year and a half ago, all the way up now to

A look back: O'Grady recaps the season
George O'Grady discusses the transition that the European Tour went through in 2013.European Tour went through a period of transition in 2013 and it ended on a really, really positive note. First and foremost, we announcedbeen a powerful year in a television sense. Many different markets have extended agreements but none more so than our groundbreaking agreement in The United States of America. Many source have a scholarship and covered on NBC for the first time for domestic event. The 10-year extension to our deal with The Golf Channel and NBC which I think is groundbreaking, very positive news for all our tournaments and all our sponsors and certainly for the membership. We signed additional agreements in 2013 in developing markets OSN in the Middle East, ViaSat in Russia and other agreements in India, in China and in Thailand. I think that's the key point about those that gives everybody who sponsors tournament on the European Tour or promotes events great confidence that they get this visibility throughout the world. We launched the European Tour TV at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in May. I think this is a very important announcement because it means on your PC, you can watch European Tour golf in all those areas of the world where it isn't coming through a recognized broadcaster.
