School of Golf's Martin Hall shares a tip to help control your distances on pitch shots, and #Own125 presented by Cleveland Golf.very good at pitching. Not that long ago, I did a with David Toms . A wonderful pitcher of the ball, and he said he'd actually made his living to inside of 125 yards. He talked about
Golfing World: Lexi Thompson ready for the Olympics
Lexi Thompson sounds off on her year so far and her desired to do her country proud at the Rio Olympics.opening round of eight under par Yeah Thailand has such an amazing golf course and great week for us in the LPGA. That golf course sets up pretty well for my game I get to hit a lot drivers and overall I just felt very relaxed that week and it came out to a good finish for me so I can't ask for anything more than that It's a hugely significant year for golf sport return for the olympic games Although high profile withdrawals from the mens game have attracted a lot of negative attention , all the leading female golfers are excited about representing their countries in Rio on the biggest stage in sports. Having golf in the Olympics after about a
Switch To Better: Fix the shanks
School of Golf's Martin Hall shares a drill that will help you get rid of the shanks, and Switch to Better presented by Srixon.to the ball, but when you're in play, when you're on the golf course , you need something to stop the next one a shank. So this is a drill I use that helps me when occasion
Day yet to play a round at Baltusrol
Todd Lewis reports from Baltusrol after he spoke to Jason Day about his absence from the course this week.play, only one person has ever successfully defended the PGA Championship. That's Tiger Woods . He did it twice, not Jack Nicklaus , not Lee Trevino. It's a daunting task to win the year's Last major championship after having come back from winning it the year before, all the scrutiny that goes with that. But yes, it certainly draws and raises some eyebrows. No question about it. But it's also David I think you hit the nail on the head. Somewhat of a compliment to this golf course . The straight forward nature of this golf course . You get on a tee. You can clearly see what's in front of you. There's nothing tricky about this golf course . People will use a lot of adjectives to describe Baltusrol, but you won't hear tricky among them.
Rosaforte wins Lincoln Werden Award
Tim Rosaforte took home the MGWA Lincoln Werden Golf Journalism award Monday night.who taught me so much about broadcasting. Also, part of Monday's festivities, Davis Love the third who received the Gold Tee reward, given by the metropolitan golfer's association, and
Expect aggressive approach at Baltusrol
The course conditions from the weather should lead to aggressive play in the final major of the year.Chamblee, Frank Nobilo, winners on the PGA Tour , a Major champion, a former world number one, and David Duval . They combine for 22 PGA Championship starts. Frank, Tuesday was very busy on the grounds and a lot drier than Monday. It certainly was Kelly. We know that more than two inches of rain dropped on this golf course . The golf course actually needed it. I spoke to Kerry Haig. He talked about the drainage here. There's also the prospect of perhaps more rain on Friday. I think for us as viewers and analysts it's gonna be better. It's gonna allow us to see the last major championship be played very, very aggressively on this golf course , even though it's just under 7,500 yards. Basically everybody you wanted to see was out on the golf course , with the exception of one player. That's the defending champion, Jason Day, but the talk still continues. Is this gonna be another first time winner? Or is it gonna be perhaps One of the ones that have already won one getting to two, or is it Rory McIlroy. It's the same old questions, and we don't know the answers yet. You've played it in Major conditions, David. You were here in 2005. Does the course look ready to you? It looks hard. As I was saying, you remember playing the golf course and there's just no let up. Finally get to a par five on the 17th and some 650 yards so there's no let up there either. But it's a wonderful, wonderful test, you have to be ready for everything and if it's gonna play a little bit soft I think it's firming up. And the great things about it is although there's a little bit of rain forecasted, the grounds crew is gonna be able to control the water and that's what a greens keeper wants, he want to control the water to make it just perfectly the way he wants the golf course to play. I think we're going to see that which means that we're in for excitement, probably a lot of birdies, people
For the Record: Koepka’s injury and Ryder Cup standings
Rex Hoggard reports on Brooks Koepka ability to play the PGA Championship due to an ankle injury. Koepka fears this may negatively affect his Ryder Cup standings.withdrew from the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational a few weeks ago with a right ankle injury . I caught up with him today. He played a nine-hole practice round But he wasn't sure what the prospects for this week held.>> It it wasnt made enough. We were actually just discussing that, trying to figure out what we were going to do as far as this week. Expectations and things like that honestly. Ryder Cup's on my mind too, so that's not. Spoke to Davis a little bit but wanna have a nice sit down conversation with him, trying to figure everything out cuz it's not fun to watch your shot go off in third or ninth or whatever yard now. Especially when you're playing so well. So it's not fun but we've got to figure it out. Now as Brooks said in that clip he is very concerned about his position on the Rider Cup points list. He went all the way from 3rd to start the month of July to 9th on the points list right now and he's hoping to get a chance to sit down with Davis Love , the US Rider Cup captain and talk about his opportunity. To possibly play on this year's team. That'll do it for this
Can 2005 champ Phil turn back the clock?
Phil Mickelson won the last PGA Championship contested at Baltusrol in 2005. Can he keep his hot hand from The Open and contend again this week?it, I'm spot-on, it's allow me to eliminate this side of the golf course , or that side of the golf course , or work the ball. He's just so unbelievably optimistic, and finds the good in everything, and everybody wants to get better as they get older To Frank's points though. Your physical skills erode and typically your desire and your nerves erode too. His desire has not, his nerves certainly have not. If you compare Phil now at 43, 44, 45 and 46 to the player he was at 23, 24, 25 and 26 Yes, he was winning more tour events then. But as it relates to major championships where it matters most, things like patience and position yourself to strategy. Phil is a better player in major championships at 43, 44, 45, and 46 than he was when he was younger. I think Personally you know there's some reasons for that. I think he was a little impatient. He alluded to the fact that he was impatient at major championships . I think his go for broke style didn't really pay off in his youth. I think he was not as well fit with equipment in his youth. He had made an equipment change from college days to his early years on the PGA TOUR . And I don't think it panned out as well as he would've liked. But it is amazing to watch somebody at 43, 44, 45, and 46 play the type of golf he is. And you have a feeling he is not done, not by a long shot. I remember I was working in a pro shop as a PGA Club Professional back in McCormick ranch in the early 90s. And he was at Arizona State his coach would call over Steve Lloyd and say do you want Phil Mickelson comes over for practice round. We knew then who he was. He was already. Already a rock star, and it was just

Decisions loom for Ryder Cup captain Love
Davis Love will have some tough decisions to make in filling out his Ryder Cup roster soon.picks will surround the rest of that squad and right now for Davis Love it's looking about getting the right places to fill out his squad. The assistant captains and I are gonna be challenged, becausepartners so we have a longer list maybe than you would think. Davis Love III has that long list, a lot of challenges but also a lot of big tournaments with double points available. What else did Davis share with you on Monday? Well, Daniel Berger, one of the young players that he's counting on. Hoping to see make the team. Had to sit out the OPEN Championships so that was a byproduct of that lost solos points. He's played out here the last three days. He's trending upward. And as Davis told
