DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – Bernd Wiesberger made seven birdies on his last 10 holes Thursday to take a one-shot lead after the first round of the Dubai Desert Classic.
It was more of the same Thursday for Rory McIlroy, who opened with a 6-under 66 at the Dubai Desert Classic. That left him two shots off the lead.
Rory McIlroy is eager to move past the “tedious and nasty process” that will culminate with his day in court next week in Dublin.
The Dubai Desert Classic pro-am was canceled Wednesday following the death of a founding member of Emirates Golf Club, who suffered cardiac arrest while warming up for the round.
