Pure Michigan: Tullymore and Bay Harbor
Tullymore and Bay Harbor Golf Clubs are featured in this Pure Michigan, Pure Golf feature.we'll start out with Tullymore, which is in Stanwood, Michigan; and I played golf at Michigan state, but have never heard of Stanwood, Michigan. Where is this? -Stanwood-- Boy, it's sort of-- Don't you have to draw the-- -Your hand. Yeah, give me your hand. -You have to draw your hand. Yeah. Gotta use the right hand. Yeah. It's over-- It's somewhere over here. -Got it. Right in the center. -Yeah. Lower left. Lower right if I'm looking at my hand. -Got it. -But Tullymore is beautiful. I will tell you this is a Jim Engh design at the St. Ives Resort. It wonders through 800 acres of wetland. 800 acres usually can build a golf course in the heart of-- -Of wetland. -50 acres. This is 800 acres. Visually spectacular. Voted new best upscale public course by Golf Digest . Jim Engh is truly an artist when it comes to architecture. You'll get up on every tee and be blown away by
Pure Michigan: Greywalls and Island Hills
The Greywalls at Marquette and Island Hills courses are featured in this Pure Michigan, Pure Golf feature.also affordable in Michigan. -Absolutely. -It's one of my favorite states to play golf by far. -Let's take a look at 2 of the featured courses by Pure Michigan, the first one here. -We'll start with Greywalls at Marquette Country Club . This- let me tell you a little something about this place. Alister MacKenzie designed Crystal Downs in Michigan- -Uhuh. Yeah. -one of the best courses in the country. He also designed Cypress Point, Augusta National , Pasatiempo. A guy by the name of Mike DeVries grew up at Crystal Downs and then went on to design Greywalls. That might be all you need to know here. This is a fantastic golf course on 230 acres with views of Lake Superior. Don't walk, run. -Look at the trees and the foliage. I bet that'd be beautiful in the fall. -Fantastic. I mean, Michigan's beautiful in the fall. If you're playing here and wandering around this golf course , you're gonna be in a happy place. -Also in Michigan, Island Hills Golf Club, a great value is what I hear. -Yeah.
Pure Michigan: Arcadia Bluffs and Treetops Smith
Arcadia Bluffs and Treetops Smith courses are featured in this Pure Michigan, Pure Golf feature.I know how many beautiful courses and options there are especially in Northern Michigan . We'll start out with Arcadia Bluffs. What can you tell me about this, Matt? -You might love Michigan. You might be the only person who loves Michigan golf more than me. Arcadia Bluffs is- as I once wrote in Golf Digest Travel Story, I love Arcadia Bluffs and Forest Dunes. I say Forest Dunes is like Spyglass. Arcadia Bluffs is like Pebble Beach and that might be all you need to know. Overlooking Lake Michigan, it's got the mid-Western aim and corner, eleventh, twelfth and 13, very special-very memorable stretch of holes there. -Beautiful. And I don't give it a beautiful rating everyone, unless it truly is beautiful. -One new thing that has happened since I've been there is now a 15-suite lodge. So there's now actually a- -Oh. -nice place to stay at the great Arcadia Bluffs and not just play. -Check it out. All right, next up Treetops in Gaylord, Michigan. -Yeah. This is Rick Smith's signature course at Treetops. Again, a great buddies' trip destination- good family destination. This- the Smith signature is Rick Smith's first 18-hole design. It got very forgiving fairways, lots of angulations to the greens. I remember the tenth hole par-5 going downhill
