It's been touched by Robert Trent Jones, Tom Fazio , the after Ross design that they planted 75,000 trees, but Pinehurst Number 2 is actually more like the original Donald Ross design now than ever before after a restoration by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw who host both Men's and Women's Open in 2014. It's a must if you're anywhere in the area-- included in Number 2 and along the same lines, play Number 4, also an original Ross routing. This is actually renovated by Tom Fazio in 2000. Some say it's their favorite course on the property. A lot of people would go and actually play Number 4 and not play Number 2. It's that good. I look at it as the Bandon Dunes to Pacific Dunes on the Southwest Coast of Oregon, to Spyglass to Pebble Beach in Monterey. -Oh, I've played Pinehurst several times, Matt, Number 4 and Number 2, but there are also some fantastic courses in the surrounding area not associated with Pinehurst. -Yeah, and to round out my third favorite at Pinehurst, I would give that to Number 8. A lot of people say, "Oh, if you're gonna play 2, 4, then what-- then what?" Well, play Number 8. This was built in 1996 by Tom Fazio to celebrate the story of the resorts 100th anniversary. It just reopened 2 weeks ago with new grass on the greens. So, if you play the Pinehurst, perfected 2, 4, and 8 and are looking for other options near, I would start with Pine Needles.
