A favorite event for golf professionals around the globe, the Volvo World Match Play Championship will move to the stunning coast of Bulgaria this weekend overlooking the Black Sea at the Thracian Cliffs Golf and Beach Resort. A Gary Player design, the course is made up of rugged coastal cliffs that claim some of the most beautiful views of any golf course in the world. This tournament will mark the first ever European Tour event to be played in Bulgaria. Twenty four total players will compete in the unique layout of this match play event with eight groups of three being pulled together to compete in a round robin format on Thursday and Friday. Competition will take place over eighteen holes of traditional match play. The top two winners from each group will move onto the quarter finals to be played on Saturday, while the semi-finals and finals will compete on Sunday. This year will mark the 50th anniversary of the event which boasts a list of golf icons as past winners. Ernie Els has claimed victory seven times, while Gary Player and Seve Ballesteros have both won championships five times.
