Ryder Cup

September 26-28, 2014

Gleneagles Hotel - PGA Centenary Course - Perthshire,  | Par: 72  | Yardage: 7243

Perhaps the most pressure packed environment in golf will be on display as the world of golf turns its focus to the PGA Centenary Course at the Gleneagles Hotel in Auchterarder, Perthshire, Scotland for the 2014 Ryder Cup. The Ryder Cup is an event that takes place every two years between the best professional golfers from Europe and the United States of America with the venue alternating between Europe and the United States. The Ryder Cup is named after English businessman Samuel Ryder who donated the trophy for the competition. The first competition was held in 1927 at Worcester Country Club in Worcester, Massachusetts between the United States and Great Britain & Ireland. Not until 1979 was the rest of continental Europe included in the competition. The United States find themselves in need of a big Sunday comeback after falling behind in day 2 of the Ryder Cup. Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed had another solid day, although Justin Rose made a 5-footer on the last to steal a half-point for Europe. Down 10-6 heading into the singles, Tom Watson will need his players at their best Sunday.
