Historically known as both the Nissan Open and the Los Angeles Open, the now Northern Trust Open was first played in 1926 and is the seventh leg of the PGA Tour. Taking place at the Riviera Country Club for the 47th time in Pacific Palisades, CA, the course has been rated the number three in the country by PGA Tour professionals and noted as the “best designed on the tour.” The home tournament of Tiger Woods who is originally from nearby Cypress but has yet to confirm or deny his participation, the 2013 tournament already has an impressive list of committed players including Furyk, Watson, Couples, McDowell, and fan favorite and two time winner, Phil Mickelson. This par-71 layout that is widely recognized for its unique beauty and challenging design that has hosted a number of the world’s biggest championships including the U.S. Open, the PGA Championship, and the U.S. Senior Open.
