The PGA Tour’s Tampa Bay Championship is set to take place this weekend at its usual home in Palm Harbor, Florida at the Innisbrook Copperhead Course. Having hosted this event since 2000, the Copperhead Course was previously the site of the JCPenney Classic Tournament which showcased blended teams of PGA and LPGA Tour professionals. Designed by Larry Packard, the course commonly ranks among the best in Florida and habitually makes an appearance in rankings on some of the most well-known golf publications. Vijay Singh has held the tournament record since 2004 with his winning total of 266 (-18), while Retief Goosen (’03, ’09) and K.j. Choi (’02, ’06) share the most tournament wins. Last year, Luke Donald went home with the victory, making it his third PGA Tour win in just 14 months and catapulting his standing to number twelve on the Fedex Cup Rankings.
