The FedExCup Playoffs make their final stop at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia for the Tour Championship. This is fourth of four FedExCup Playoff events and the finale of the 2016-2017 PGA Tour season. This is the 31st edition of the Tour Championship and the 17th time held at East Lake Golf Club. Last week’s field of 70 in the BMW Championship was reduced to 30 for this week. Notables whom failed to advance from the BMW Championship include Louis Oosthuizen, Henrik Stenson, Phil Mickelson, Bill Haas, Zach Johnson, and last year’s champion Rory McIlroy. Players outside the top 30 going into the BMW Championship that played their way into the field this week include Tony Finau, Sergio Garcia, Xander Schauffele, and Patrick Cantlay. Players qualifying for the Tour Championship earn invitations/exemptions into next year’s Masters, U.S. Open, and Open. Points are reset this week with every player in the field having a mathematical shot at winning the FedExCup. The Top five seeds are guaranteed to win the FedExCup if they win this week’s Tour Championship. The top five being Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Marc Leishman, and Jon Rahm. Players this week can earn as much as $11,575,000 if they win both the Tour Championship and the FedExCup.
