Following a thrilling week of competition at the Players tournament, the PGA Tour travels to Dallas this week for the HP Byron Nelson Championship. Proudly acclaimed as the 9th longest running active event in PGA Tour history, all of the tournament action will take place at the TPC Four Seasons Resort at Las Colinas in Irving, TX. The tournament is widely recognized as the leading fundraiser for charity on the tour, raking in more than $125 million since the event’s inception, which become known as the Byron Nelson Championship in 1968 yet has history dating all the way back to 1944. The tournament is just one of two events named after a player (along with the Arnold Palmer Invitational) on the PGA Tour. Byron Nelson was the first to win the inaugural event, previously known as the Texas Victory Open, which kicked off two incredible years in which he captured 26 tournament victories, including an 11 straight victory streak in 1945. In 2012, Jason Dufner took home the first place win after draining a 25-foot birdie to avoid a playoff with Dicky Pride. Other past winners of the par-70 layout include Keegan Bradley in 2011 and Jason Day in 2010.
