Steve Burkowski

Studio Play-by-Play Host, European Tour

Steve Burkowski is a reporter and producer for Golf Central, covering amateur events and the college golf ranks for the network.  He also serves as a tower and on-course reporter at select USGA events, in-studio commentator for the network’s European Tour coverage and field producer for PGA TOUR events.  Burkowski has been with Golf Channel since 2000, where he began as a production assistant for Golf Central.  He also was lead producer and co-host for College Central, the network’s college golf news show, from 2003-06.

Prior to joining Golf Channel, Burkowski worked in Columbia, S.C. at WVOC 560 AM and Sports Radio 1400. He covered The Masters and the Verizon Heritage, was the voice of Lady Gamecock basketball, host of 'The Wake-Up Call' and 'The Cheap Seats' and was co-host of the local pre-game football and pre-game basketball shows for the University of South Carolina.  Burkowski also hosted “The 19th Hole,” a weekly golf radio show.

    For the second straight year, I highlighted the third week of February on my calendar as one of the marquee weeks on the college circuit.

    2/17/04 -- The spring season for the No. 1 ranked womens golf team gets going this weekend in Puerto Rico. Duke will put their perfect mark of five wins in five fall events on the line.

    The South Carolina Gamecocks have been a solid top 25 team for several seasons, with the occasional break-out campaign. But usually in the end, it was the Clemson Tigers taking home the headlines and the hardware.

  • 11/19/03 -- As you saw on Wednesdays College Central I handed out my assessment of the fall season for the men. Now its time to evaluate the womens performance.

    10/29/03 -- As I head to Myrtle Beach, S.C. this coming weekend for the unofficial close to the fall season.

    10/15/03 -- This week at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate in Birmingham, AL, Wake Forest senior Bill Haas captured his seventh career individual title.
