Random Notes from Golf Cyberspace

The latest:
VIDEO GAME PRACTICE PAYS OFF: And to think I wouldnt buy my son a Gameboy. You can now go to Adams Golf website at and play ten shots with Adams computerized clubs (all mouse-controlled). The best scorer for combined distance and accuracy each week will win an Adams Tight Lies GT i-Wood.
The idea, of course, is to promote Adams line of multi-material shafted clubs. The program runs through Sept. 2.
CHARITYS CUP RUNNETH OVER: I suppose the last thing golf needs is another Ryder knockoff, but this one is for a good cause. Former European Ryder Cup captain Bernard Gallacher is spearheading the Gallacher Trophy. Its a Ryder-format competition between business executives that will culminate in a final round at Loch Lomond in Scotland Sept. 21. The proceeds will benefit UNICEF.
Non-playing captains for the final will be Craig Stadler for the Americans and Gallacher for the Europeans. In the event of a tie, Stadler and Gallacher will play an extra hole to settle things, and if theyre level after that, only then will the competition be declared a real tie.
