Annika Named Top Swedish Golfer

STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- This choice was about as easy as it gets: Annika Sorenstam was selected Golfer of the Year in her native Sweden for the third straight time on Monday.
Sorenstam played against the men, won two majors on the LPGA Tour, made the Hall of Fame and helped Europe win the Solheim Cup.

She won the annual poll for a record seventh time, beating golfer Fredrik Jacobson by 53 points.

Sorenstam topped the first Swedish poll in 1995. Since then, only two-time British Open runner-up Jesper Parnevik (1999) and golfer Sophie Gustafson (2000) managed to win the award.
