Cape Town to Stage First 2004 Open Qualifier

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland -- Golfers from 10 countries will compete in Cape Town, South Africa, next month in the first of five international qualifying events for the 2004 British Open.
The field for the Jan. 8-9 event at Atlantic Beach Golf Club will feature 45 golfers from South Africa, including U.S. Tour player David Frost, and Scott Dunlap of the United States, Open organizers said Tuesday.
The British Open will be played at Royal Troon in Scotland, July 15-18.
Other qualifying events will be played at Kingston Heath Golf Club, Victoria, Australia; Saujana Golf & Country Club, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Sunningdale Golf Club, England; and the Congressional Country Club outside Washington, D.C.
Africa, Asia and Australasia are each guaranteed four qualifying places. America and Europe are guaranteed at least 12.
The final field for the British Open will remain at 156.
