Celebrity Players Tour to Stop in Connecticut

UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- The Celebrity Players Tour will make another stop in Connecticut this summer, sponsor Mohegan Sun announced on Friday.
The third annual CPT Team Championship, the only CPT tour stop in New England, will be held June 26-27 at Fox Hopyard Golf Club in East Haddam. The event will help raise money for cystic fibrosis research.
'We're delighted to be working with the Celebrity Players Tour and Cystic Fibrosis to bring this back to the area and to build upon the tournament's positive impact in the community,' said Mohegan Sun spokesman Mitchell Etess.
The event includes a week of golf, charity and community events. The Norwich Navigators will host a special Legends Night on June 22, which will feature a celebrity home run derby and a fantasy softball game to benefit cystic fibrosis.
The Tour also will hold a black tie Cystic Fibrosis Sportscaster Super Ball on June 25 at the Mohegan Sun. Former boxing champ Sugar Ray Leonard and ESPN's Joe Tessitore, who co-founded the CFF Sportscaster Super Ball with fellow ESPN anchor Chris Berman, will co-host the gala.
Since its inception in Connecticut three years ago, the event has attracted dozens of sports and stars including baseball Hall-of-Famers Mike Schmidt, Reggie Jackson, Carlton Fisk and Johnny Bench. More then 50 sports and entertainment stars are expected to compete in this summer's tournament.
