Former All-American Dahl Awarded Exemption

04 Rheem ClassicFORT SMITH, Ark. -- Former Arkansas All-American Andrew Dahl will be among the golfers competing in the Rheem Classic, a Nationwide Tour event that begins May 9 at the Hardscrabble Country Club.
The Nationwide Tour is professional golf's top minor-league circuit.
Dahl, who turned pro this year and has been playing on the Hooters Tour, was awarded an exemption for the tournament. In 2004, Dahl competed in the Rheem Classic as an amateur and performed well before shooting a 76 in the final round to fade to a tie for 42nd.
Dahl will be playing against many other professionals and at least one amateur -- Arkansas Golf Hall of Fame inductee Ron Richard.
'We are just delighted that Ron and Andrew are going to be in the tournament,' said Hardscrabble Country Club pro Wayne Meeks.
Richard was especially looking forward to the event.
'It's an exciting opportunity,' he said. 'I've played against some very good golfers in different events, but never against a field with this many great players.'
