Garcia Grabs Share of Lead in Japan

AsianPGAGOTEMBA, Japan -- Sergio Garcia shot a 5-under-par 67 Friday to move into a three-way tie for the lead at the Taiheiyo Masters.
Garcia carded four birdies before the turn at the Gotemba Course, before adding two more against a lone bogey on No. 17 to move into a tie for first at 9-under 135. Japanese players Katsumasa Miyamoto and Daisuke Maruyama, who both fired second round 64s were also at 9-under.
Garcia's Ryder Cup teammate Darren Clarke, who has won the title the last two years, shot a 3-under 69 and is tied for 34th place at even-par 144.
Clarke, who had a 75 in the opening round, had three bogeys over the first nine holes but picked up his game after the turn, carding five birdies and an eagle on the par-5 18th hole after a bogey on 17.
