KASAMA, Japan – Ryo Ishikawa missed the cut at the Japan Golf Tour Championship on Friday, a day after he carded the worst score of his professional career.
The 19-year-old Ishikawa shot a 6-over 77 to finish 18 over for the tournament and miss the cut for a second straight week. He struggled with a 12-over 83 in the first round.
Masanori Kobayashi took a one-shot lead over South Korean Kim Hyung-Tae after a 68 moved him to 5 under. Kim fired a 66.
Kobayashi is looking for his second win in three events, having defeated Ishikawa in a playoff at the Totoumi Hamamatsu Open two weeks ago.
Ishikawa has an exemption for the U.S. Open, which starts on June 16 in Washington.
