Legatt Withdraws from TPC

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Canadian Ian Leggatt has withdrawn from The Players Championship with an injury to his wrist and hand.
Leggatt is the fourth player to withdraw from the $6.5 million event that begins Thursday on the Stadium Course at the Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass.
Ernie Els, the No. 2 player in the world, withdrew Tuesday because the wrist he injured working out with a punching bag two weeks ago has yet to fully heal. Phil Mickelson, who is ranked third, is spending time with his family after the birth of his third child on Sunday. Thomas Bjrn of Denmark is on the maternity watch -- awaiting the birth of twins.
There are now 145 players in the field. Australia's Aaron Baddeley, who is the first alternate, won't get in until the number drops below 144.
