LPGA Tour Heading to Arkansas in 2007

LPGA Tour (75x100)ROGERS, Ark. -- The Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers will host Arkansas' first professional women's golf event in more than 50 years, the LPGA Tour announced Thursday.
The LPGA Tour announced a three-year deal to play the Northwest Arkansas Championship in Rogers beginning in September 2007.

'As the LPGA continues to flourish, we are proud to bring the stars of the tour to new markets, and from what I've seen of the community support so far -- even more than a year out from the inaugural event -- Northwest Arkansas is more than ready to embrace the LPGA,' Commissioner Carolyn Bivens said in a news release.
The tournament, which will run Sept. 7-9, will have a $1.25 million purse.
'Our club is eager to test the best lady golfers in the world and showcase our golf course to the citizens of Northwest Arkansas,' Pinnacle president Mike Hudson said. 'This tournament will certainly become a premier event of the LPGA Tour.'
The tournament will be sponsored by John Q. Hammons Hotels, which also sponsors the LGPA Tour stop in Tulsa, Okla.
