Nationwide Extends Sponsorship of Tour

Nationwide TourCOLUMBUS, Ohio -- Nationwide extended its sponsorship of the PGA TOUR's minor leagues through the 2012 season, making it the longest relationship the circuit has had since it began in 1990.
Prize money on the Nationwide Tour reached $17 million in 2006, and 10 members of the U.S. Ryder Cup team -- including captain Tom Lehman -- got their start on that tour.

'Based on the success we've had with the Nationwide Tour in the past four years, we're very excited to continue and grow our role as umbrella sponsor,' said John Aman, brand management officer for Nationwide.
The PGA TOUR awards exempt status to the top 20 players on the Nationwide Tour money list.
The circuit began in 1990 as the Hogan Tour, and Nike took over as the umbrella sponsor in August 1992. That gave way to the Tour in 1999, and Nationwide became the sponsor in 2002.
Former Nationwide Tour players have won 196 times on the PGA TOUR.
