Park Alive in US Junior Girls

WESTFIELD, N.J. -- Qualifying medalist In-Bee Park of Eustis, Fla., won two matches Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Girls Junior Championship.
The 14-year-old Park beat Laura Caniff of Russell, Ky., 4 and 3 in the second round of match play, and edged Stephanie Connelly of Pasadena, Md., 1-up in the third round on the Echo Lake course.
Park will face Jean Reynolds of Newnan, Ga., in the quarterfinals. Reynolds beat Mallorie Underwood of Montgomery, Texas, 2 and 1, and Mallory Code of Tampa, Fla., 1-up.
In the other upper-bracket quarterfinal, Julieta Granada of Paraguay will face Hannah Jun of San Diego.
In the all-California lower-bracket quarterfinals, Allison Martin of Bakersfield will play Jane Park of Oak Valley, and Amie Cochran of Torrance will face Jenny Tangtiphaiboontana of Long Beach.
Jane Park survived two 21-holes matches, beating Brittany Lang of McKinney, Texas, and Morgan Pressel of Boca Raton, Fla. The 14-year-old Pressel qualified for the U.S. Women's Open last year.
