Pinehurst President Steps Down

PINEHURST, N.C. -- Patrick Corso, president and chief executive officer of Pinehurst Resort, will resign from his job effective Feb. 6, the resort's owners said Wednesday.
Corso joined Pinehurst in 1986 and became president the next year at the world-renowned resort, which has eight championship golf courses. They include Pinehurst No. 2, which hosted the 1999 U.S. Open Championship and will again in 2005.
'We raised our family here and have deep roots in the community,' Corso said in a news release. 'This is an opportunity for me to pursue a new career direction and for Pinehurst to move into the next chapter of its history.'
The search for Corso's replacement will begin immediately, said a spokesman for ClubResorts, a division of Pinehurst parent company ClubCorp.
The 2,000-acre resort, which opened in 1895, is also the home of the Spa at Pinehurst and three historic hotels.
