Smith leads by two at LPGA Q-School

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Libby Smith shot a 3-under 69 in cold and windy conditions Thursday to take a two-stroke lead after the second round of the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament.

Smith had an 8-under 136 total at LPGA International. The former Vermont basketball player played the Legends Course on Thursday after opening on the Champions Course.

Thailand’s Pornanong Phatlum and South Korea’s Jimin Jeong were tied for second. Phatlum shot a 66 on the Champions Course, and Jeong had a 69 on the Legends Course.

The top 20 players in the five-round event will earn full 2011 exemptions.
