Tiger Faces Micheel at World Match Play

HSBC World Mach Play ChampionshipsTiger Woods will face Shaun Micheel in the first round of the HSBC World Match Play Championship golf tournament.
Woods will be attempting to win his sixth straight event at the tournament beginning Thursday over the West Course at Wentworth just outside London.
Woods has played only once in the HSBC World Match Play Championship, finishing runner-up to Mark O'Meara in 1999. He is also preparing for the Sept. 22-24 Ryder Cup at The K Club in Ireland.
Jim Furyk is the only other American Ryder Cup player in the field. Furyk, who won the Canadian Open on Sunday, plays Robert Karlsson in the first round.
Five European Ryder Cup players are in the field: David Howell, Colin Montgomerie, Paul Casey, Robert Karlsson and Luke Donald.
In other first-round pairings: Michael Campbell vs. Simon Khan; Howell vs. Montgomerie; Retief Goosen vs. Casey; Adam Scott vs. Mike Weir; Ernie Els vs. Angel Cabrera; Donald vs. Tim Clark.
The Golf Channel will have coverage of all four days beginning Thursday at 9 a.m. ET, as well as a rebroadcast at night .
Last year, the fourth-seeded Campbell held off Irishman Paul McGinley, 2 and 1, on Sunday to win the title.
