Trump Golf Course Facing Fine for Water Use

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Billionaire Donald Trump is expected to be slapped with a hefty fine for his golf course's excessive water usage, but it amounts to only pocket change for him.
The South Florida Water Management District will vote tomorrow whether to fine the Trump International Golf Club $12,000.
It's because the course exceeded its water allowance by 14 percent during the 12-month period ending in June 2002. The club is built on 215 acres of county-owned property in suburban West Palm Beach.
Since it opened, the club has routinely used much more water than permitted. It exceeded its allotment by 50 percent in 2000, 29 percent in 2001 and 14 percent in 2002.
If imposed, the $12,000 fine would equate to about 0.0006 percent of Trump's estimated worth.
