Tigers Event Optimistic on Having Tournament Host

Greg McLaughlin, the tournament director for the initial AT&T National scheduled to be hosted by Tiger Woods early next month, said Tuesday he is optimistic and encouraged that Woods will be able to play in his event.
McLaughlin told GOLF CHANNEL that he doesnt expect to hear anything official from Tiger until the end of the week. But, he added, It looks like our field just improved. We are encouraged and hopeful that Tiger will be able to play in our event. We have had every indication that he will play.
The event is slated for July 5-8 at Congressional Country Club in Potomac, Md.
Woods became a father Monday when his wife, Elin, gave birth to a girl, Sam Alexis Woods, in Orlando, Fla.
We are very happy for Tiger and Elin, said McLaughlin, who also runs the Tiger Woods Foundation.
As to the health of Woods' wife and daughter, McLaughlin said, Baby and Mom are perfectly fine.
Meanwhile, a source inside the Woods camp, when asked about the name Sam Alexis, told GOLF CHANNEL there is an interesting significance. There is definitely a story behind the name, the source said. Im sure Tiger will tell that story at the appropriate time.
