David Abeles has been named CEO and president of TaylorMade Golf, immediately replacing Ben Sharpe.

Abeles, 43, has spent 12 years with the TaylorMade Golf Company. After leaving in 2014 to become CEO of Competitor Group Inc., an operator of marathon and half-marathon races, he returned last month as president of TaylorMade and Adams Golf.

"David has a proven track record of success and leadership excellence,” Herbert Hainer, CEO of the Adidas Group, said in a statement. "I am convinced that David will lead our golf business into the next era of growth. At the same time, I would like to thank Ben for his passion and many contributions to our company over the last nine years and I wish him all the best for his professional and private future.”

The announcement means that the company will have its third leader in a span of 10 months. Sharpe, 41, was named in April as a successor to Mark King, who officially left the post of CEO on June 1 to become president of Adidas Group North America. Per a company release, Sharpe has opted to leave the company for "personal reasons."
