This week marks the first LPGA major of the 2015 season, as the circuit heads to California for the ANA Inspiration. Each week, a panel of experts will offer up their picks from four groups of players, based on Golf Channel's fantasy game, Fantasy Challenge. We will also keep track of their scores and standings. The panel includes: senior writers Rex Hoggard and Randall Mell; editorial director Jay Coffin; associate editor Will Gray; 'Morning Drive' host Gary Williams; host Charlie Rymer and defending fantasy champion Ryan Lavner.
Group 1: Inbee Park: This will be a putting contest, and Inbee Park’s pretty good at those. Plus, her ball striking has never been better.
Group 2: Hyo-Joo Kim: This “rookie” is red hot. She’s a great ball striker who is already proven on pressure-packed stages (’14 Evian winner).
Group 3: Sandra Gal: The German is highly motivated with the Solheim Cup going to her homeland later this yr. It’s getting her on a lot of leaderboards of late.
Group 4: Moriya Jutanugarn: Her game is trending upward nicely, getting better with every start. She hits fairways and that will be a big deal again at Mission Hills.
Group 1: Lydia Ko: The world No. 1 is riding a streak of 28 straight rounds under par, and could break the all-time record this week previously set by Annika Sorenstam. Good enough reason for me.
Group 2: Anna Nordqvist: The Swede has been playing well of late, and she hasn't finished worse than T-26 in five prior starts in this event.
Group 3: Se Ri Pak: The veteran matched the course record last week and she is riding a streak of five straight top-20 finishes at Mission Hills.
Group 4: Alison Lee: The rookie has been playing some great golf in recent weeks, and her transition to the pro ranks has been seamless.
