David Feherty has only been an American citizen a few short years and he is very proud to be an American. In honor of July 4th, David Feherty would like to reflect back on some of his most memorable moments while filming the Feherty show as a newly American citizen. Happy Fourth of July!
A few years ago I made the decision to become an American citizen. I love my native Northern Ireland and I’ll always cherish my lifelong memories of growing up there but America is my home now and I love it. I recited the pledge of allegiance at the induction ceremony and as far as I’m concerned it was a privilege and an honor. I’m proud of my new country and I promised to protect her and defend her and that’s a promise I will never fail to keep.
America is still the greatest country in the world but as you’ll see in the following photographs not every day is a day at the beach for me. Lord knows I try to lead a normal existence but occasionally I find myself in situations that test my newly minted patriotism. Here are ten of my most cogent thoughts on why it’s great to be an American.
