This week the PGA Tour returns to TPC Boston in Norton, Mass. for the Deutsche Bank Championship, the second event of the 2009 FedEx Cup Playoffs. Tom Brodeur, GCSAA Class A superintendent, has dealt with a roller coaster of weather this summer, as a very wet June and July were followed by a very hot and dry August. TPC Boston had only received 0.2 inches of rain in the past month before Tropical Depression Danny dropped 2.25 inches on Saturday.
New changes to the golf course this year include narrowed landing areas and mounding on Nos. 14 and 15, new mounding to the right of No. 17 green and the reshaping of some surrounds on holes No. 3 and 6.
