LA ROMANA, Dominican Republic – The 2017 Latin America Amateur Championship will be played at Panama City’s Club de Golf de Panana, it was announced Thursday.

The tournament, founded by the Masters Tournament, R&A and USGA to develop amateur golf in South and Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean, will be held Jan. 12-15.

The inaugural event was held in Buenos Aires. This week’s tournament is being staged here at Casa de Campo’s Teeth of the Dog course.

The Club de Golf de Panama has hosted the Tour’s Panama Claro Championship since 2004.

The winner of the LAAC receives an invitation to the Masters, and both the champion and the runner-up are exempt into the final stage of qualifying for the U.S. Open and Open Championship.
