The European Tour announced a new tournament Wednesday: the NH Collection Open, to be played April 3-6 at La Reserve de Sotogrande Golf Club in southern Spain.

The 144-man field for the dual-ranking event will be comprised from the European and Challenge tours.

It will mark the European Tour’s first visit to the Andalucia venue, which opened in 2004.

“We are delighted to announce this new tournament in southern Europe, and hope this is a sign of recovery after a difficult time economically in this region,” said Keith Waters, chief operating officer and director of international policy at the European Tour. “It will give our members another opportunity to play, and for Challenge Tour members the NH Collection Open is a great chance to earn instant promotion to the European Tour.”
