HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Another deadline looms for players this week at the RBC Heritage.
The final Official World Golf Ranking to qualify for the WGC-Cadillac Match Play will be published on Monday, which means players vying for a spot at Harding Park have one last shot.
Among those trying to crack the top 64 this week at the Heritage will be No. 69 Daniel Berger, No. 71 Kevin Streelman, No. 72 Graham Delaet and No. 77 Ernie Els.
Both Streelman and Els made moves last week, finishing 12th and 22nd, respectively, at the Masters.
Ben Martin is currently on the Match Play bubble at 64th in the world rankings and is playing this week at Harbour Town Golf Links, but he may have a bit of a cushion.
Tim Clark, No. 57, didn’t play the Masters because of an injury and No. 56 Marc Leishman withdrew last week to be at home with his ailing wife. If either of those players can’t participate in the Match Play, the field would slide to the next player in the OWGR.
“I was hoping to jump a touch more than just three spots, but a good week here could take care of that,” Streelman said. “Last year it went a few spots past [No.] 64, so that’s reasonably within reach.”
