Haas moves up to ninth in Ryder Cup rankings

Bill Haas lost the Valspar Championship in a playoff, but he did make a nice jump in this week's Ryder Cup standings.

The top seven remained the same for the U.S. team. Patrick Reed's T-7 at the Valspar moved him up from ninth to eighth. Haas made a big leap from 15th to ninth.

Thomas Pieters was the only player on the European side to make a move. He finished third at the Thailand Classic to bump Chris Wood out on the World Points List.

Unlike the U.S. team – which takes the top eight qualifiers, plus four captain's picks – the European team takes the top four players on the European Points List and then five from the World Points List who have not already qualified. Captain Darren Clarke will then make three picks.

Here are the teams as of March 14:

1. Jordan Spieth
2. Bubba Watson
3. Dustin Johnson
4. Rickie Fowler
5. Brandt Snedeker
6. Phil Mickelson
7. Zach Johnson
8. Patrick Reed
9. Bill Haas
10. Brooks Koepka
11. Jason Dufner
12. Kevin Kisner

Rory McIlroy
Danny Willett

Matthew Fitzpatrick
Henrik Stenson
