ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Harris English eyed putt after putt with the same weary respect that will be ubiquitous next week when the golf world gathers for the Masters.
The slippery greens, however, were not at Augusta National.
English was one of a handful of Tour types who was readying for the year’s first major at Frederica Golf Club, where club officials annually dial the layout’s greens up to near 14 on the stimpmeter.
“They’re almost there,” English smiled on Saturday as he made final preparations for his first trip to the Masters.
Zach Johnson – who prepared for the 2007 Masters, which he won, at Frederica – and Brandt Snedeker were also on property Saturday readying for next week.
